Selection
Two selectors determine a shortlist of between 8 and 10 international artists considering nominations from across the world. The selectors also undertake their own research by touring some of the world’s most prestigious visual arts events, by making individual artist’s studio visits, and by holding a number of joint discussions with the Artistic Director.

In making their selection, the selectors focus on the two main criteria:

1 Artists who have achieved recognition for the quality of their work in their own country or sphere and are emerging internationally

2 Artists who explore ideas of the human form, the human condition and add to our understanding of humanity.

This last description should be taken as broadly as possible, and executed in a diverse range of media. Eligibility also includes artists of any age and artists resident or working anywhere in the world.
