The Artes Mundi Prize is open to artists living or working in any country
- who are emerging internationally having already achieved recognition for the quality of their work in their own country or sphere
- whose work explores ideas of the human form, the human condition and add to our understanding of humanity.
There are no age restrictions.
Arriving at a single Artes Mundi Prize recipient is a process that involves several groups of people at various stages of the competition.
Nomination
Curators, directors of cultural institutions, art galleries and museums, directors of commercial galleries and significant artists are invited to nominate via a simple nomination form. However only those artists whose work and status fulfils the criteria for selection are considered. This process is repeated for each Prize and artists can be nominated more than once.
For Artes Mundi 3, four hundred nominations were received from over sixty five countries.
Nomination for Artes Mundi 3 has now closed, but if you would like to nominate an artist for Artes Mundi 4 you can register your intention by clicking here. We will send you a nomination form towards the end of 2008.
