Arts Mundi 3 Education Pack 2008 is here
The Artes Mundi 3 Education Pack 2008 is available now. The free bi-lingual CD-ROM-based pack, produced with the support of St David’s 2 and Arts & Business Cymru, is designed to enable teachers to prepare for visits and to use computers and projection to bring aspects of the Artes Mundi exhibition ‘virtually’ into the classroom when actual visits are not possible.
The pack offers insight into topics raised by the artists from Artes Mundi’s three exhibitions to date, which have involved 27 artists from 23 countries. Topics include humanity and the human condition, and contemporary issues such as man’s relationship with our environment and the after-affects of war and conflict. In addition there is a section on public art, in association with St David’s 2 and Safle.
The pack is best used in conjunction with an exhibition visit to assist students in engaging with the works of art first hand in the gallery. An interactive gallery of 101 images has been developed so users can browse the galleries and view them as a slideshow. The teaching material is packed with ideas and activities that link to the National Curriculum, specifically Art and Design, but also relating to English, Citizenship, Science and Geography.
The pack was sent to every primary, secondary and special needs school in Wales on 11 March 2008. Please contact us if you did not receive it.
The pack is available to schools and families across the UK too. Schools are invited to email info@artesmundi.org to request a pack.
