We are delighted to take part in the Wales Millennium Centre’s Festival of Voice 2016 with Speech against itself, a new co-commissioned work by Beirut-based artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan, and Seeing Voices, Woman’s Hour spellbinding performance.

Abu Hamdan’s new work, Speech against itself, will be performed at Festival of Voice as a live audio essay, employing a series of sonic manipulations and pre-recorded samples designed to question the fundamental ways in which we speak, listen and are heard today. Contra-diction: Speech against itself is a performance that constitutes the third and final part of Lawrence Abu Hamdan’s the Aural Contract trilogy.

Acclaimed British band Woman’s Hour will present their newly-devised live performance Seeing Voices which incorporates a specially commissioned video projection by the artists Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, using previously unseen footage from the British Deaf Association archives.

The Festival of Voice is the first major UK celebration of the voice in all its forms. It will take place in venues all over Cardiff in June 2016 and will featuring local, national and global artists.

The festival’s line up was announced today in London, please visit the website for more information and tickets.
