Sue Williams

Date posted: January 20, 2011 Back to the exhibition

Sue Williams' paintings embody a passionate response to the human condition, revealing an ambiguous boundary between a secure place and an insecure place, between the real and the imagined.

Drawing plays a major role within her work and it is through the use of the drawn image that the notion of human desire and frailty unfolds. The use of text and material beyond the surface of the canvas has become an integral part of the work that enables the surface to be manipulated.

Sue Williams was born in 1956 in Redruth, Cornwall and now lives and works in Cardiff, Wales.
