Janine Antoni was born in the Bahamas in 1964 and now lives in New York. Her performance and installation pieces have used "feminine" mediums, such as lard, hair dye, and chocolate, as metaphors to explore female sexuality. She exhibited at the Istanbul Biennale of 1997, the Kwangju Biennale of 2000, and has also shown in South Africa, Germany and Eire.
